We are very lucky to have our own heated swimming pool with a cover on site. This means we can provide swimming lessons within school to all year groups from Reception to Year 6.
Each class will swim once a week for one term, each academic year. Information about in-school swimming lessons will go out prior to the swimming term. Children will be put into groups based on confidence and ability. The swimming teacher also runs additional afterschool lessons in the summer term for those who wish to take up extra lessons. Swimming is part of the curriculum and required. Water safety is a vital life skill, which is why it is a mandatory part of the curriculum for PE at primary schools.
FOSLS often fundraise to support the costs of our swimming pool. The money they raise goes towards equipment, supplies and maintenance.
