People Who Help Us

This week we have been visited by a number of different people who work in the community to help others. We worked on our speaking and listening skills to ask questions and find out about what they do.

Penny's Mummy is a Veterinary Nurse she told us all about her job and showed us some X-rays and how to bandage poorly animals.

We had a Nurse visit us

Police and Fire Men

Mr George came to visit and told us all about his role as a Fire Fighter. He told us about the Fire engine he drives and showed us the safety clothes he wears to put out fires.

Train Driver

Today we met Engine Driver Garry from the SVR.

He told us all about how he looks after and drives the different engines.

He showed us some of the special equipment he uses.

The Armed Forces

Today Evie’s Daddy Bruce came to talk to us about his role in the Armed forces and how they help to keep people safe.

He brought his kit bag to show us some of the things he uses

What a perfect afternoon for a Reindeer Dash!

Thank you all so much for your generous sponsorship, the children had a wonderful time and were very excited to see Father Christmas!

Visit From Puff

We were very excited to have a surprise special visitor in school today!

Puff came to see the children and tell them all about his new adventure, ‘A Special Day Out’

The new book features lots of familiar places around Bridgnorth as well as some of the children in our class, Puff visits Ellie at her Birthday party and receives a cake from Layla and her brother Jake.

If you would like to purchase a copy of the book, they are available to buy from The Cake Room (next to Bridgnoth Majestic Cinema) and Henry & Co – Gift shop.

All proceeds from the book will go to Asthma UK

BEE LADY

Today we had a visit from Alison the Bee Lady. She shared with us her passion for Bee Keeping and helped us to learn about the different parts of a bee. We drew a picture and carefully counted the legs, wings and antenna to make sure we had the correct number. We also identified other insects and counted the different body parts.

We learned that a beehive is made up of a six-sided shape, a hexagon that is tessellated together to make a honey combe. We collected hexagons and tessellated them together like in the beehive.
